New IDEA in the works…

When I set out to resurrect this blog last summer, I did so without a plan. Yes: I, the Queen of Planning, had no plan. To find something to write about each week, I ferreted around discussion boards for hot topics that pushed my buttons. Some weeks, I was bored to tears. Other weeks, I was overwhelmed.
In October, social marketing expert, John Hope-Johnstone, asked a simple question: “Why do you blog?” And then he asked a tough question: “Is it working?”
I hadn’t given it much thought, so I have spent a little time doing just that.
Why do I blog?
- To explore and expose and work through my own assumptions about my industry. Perhaps this isn’t a good reason to blog, at least in a business context. I do this anyway so why do I need a blog to wear it on my sleeve?
- To establish a reputation as an expert? This is a good reason to blog. Who would want to hire me if I’m not an expert?
- To gain market exposure? I think this is the best reason yet. For someone who lives in a rural area and works in a niche market, it is critical to get as much market exposure as possible on the Internet.
Is it working?
- Yes, maybe, and definitely no. I’m at a crossroad, but this time I have a plan!
Actually, the new plan is underway, and should arrive in the next few weeks.
Stay tuned for a whole new look and feel, including a website with an integrated blog.
